UMass Track Finishes 14th At Husky Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Massachusetts women's indoor track and field team finished 14th in the 15-team Husky Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. on Friday night. Southern Florida finished in first place with 110.33 points, with Northeastern placing second with 102 points and Connecticut taking third place with 81 points. UMass tallied eight points in the meet.
The Minutewomen tallied their eight points with solid performances from freshman Elisabeth Budd (Springfield, Mass.), and juniors Brandy Green (Fitchburg, Mass.), Shannon Jackson (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Chante Soares (New Bedford, Mass.).
Green placed fifth in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.51 and Jackson finished close behind her in eighth place at 8.64. Soares finished seventh in the long jump at 17' 11-3/4" while Budd placed eighth in the 400-meter dash at 59.43.
The Minutewomen will next compete on Feb. 8 when they travel to Dartmouth.
