UMass Women's Swim Team Falls to Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team fell to Northeastern, 131.50 to 108.50, on Sunday in Boston, Mass. The Minutewomen were led by first place finishes from freshman Aimee Bourassa (Ottawa, Ontario) and senior Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.).

Bourassa won the 500-yard freestyle at 5:19.42 and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:01.24. Allery won the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 277.43 and finished second in the 1-meter dive with 244.50 points.

Also performing well for UMass were seniors Lizzy Boyle (Darien, Conn) and Molly Buckley (Taunton, Mass.). Buckley finished second in the 100-yard freestyle at 55.10 and Boyle took second place in the 25-yard freestyle at 11.98 seconds. Buckley also tallied a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.

Juniors Lauren Rowell (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Colleen Wasson (Harleysville, Pa.) also turned in solid performances against Northeastern. Rowell placed second in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:02.19, beating out Wasson, who finished third at 1:02.19.

The Minutewomen will return to action on Jan. 25 when they travel to George Washington.
