AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts diver Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) was named Dinn Brothers UMass Athlete of the Week by the UMass Sports Luncheon Committee for the week ending Jan. 12. The senior won two events at the Rhode Island Invitational Jan. 10-11, placing first in both the 1M (226.65 points) and 3M (252.20 points) dive. Allery's efforts helped UMass earn a second-place finish at the four team meet.

"She won both of the boards handily this weekend against Dartmouth, Rhode Island and La Salle," said UMass diving coach Mandy Hixon.

Allery holds the school record in the six dive 3M with 291.00 points as well as the six dive 1M with 287.02 points. This year the senior currently leads the Atlantic 10 in the six dive 3M event with 252.53 points, and is second in the six dive 1M with 257.32 points. Allery's scores in the two diving events also rank first on the UMass team this season.

Allery and the Minutewomen will face UMBC and Central Connecticut at home at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool on Saturday, Jan.18 at 2:30 p.m.
