Results

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Massachusetts women's indoor track and field team raced to first place in Boston, Mass. on Friday. In their first meet of the indoor season the Minutewomen tallied 102 total points to defeat Boston University (82 points), Central Connecticut (55 points), Maine (88.5 points), New Hampshire (81.5 points) and Providence(65 points).

Sophomore Christina Huff (Springfield, Mass.) paced the Minutewomen with a first place finish in the 55 meter dash (7.33) and a second place finish in the 200 meter dash (25.82). Junior Brandy Green (Fitchburg, Mass.) captured second place in both the 55 meter hurdles (8.40) and the pole vault (3.5 meters).

UMass also received contributions from sophomore Marissa Callahan (Bangkok, Thailand) and juniors Chante Soares (New Bedford, Mass.), Kishana Hudson (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Shannon Jackson (Bridgewater, Mass.).

Callahan placed second in the triple jump at 10.89 meters while Soares finished third in the long jump competition at 5.29 meters. In the sprinting events, Hudson finished fourth in the 55 meter dash (7.55) and Jackson finished third in the 400 meter dash (1:00.40).

The Minutewomen will next compete at the New England Challenge Cup in Providence, R.I. on Jan.18.
