Men's Basketball Falls To Dayton, 83-68

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Dayton jumped to a 13-0 lead, had another 17-0 first-half run, and shot 59 percent from the field in the game Tuesday night for an 83-68 victory over Massachusetts.
Ramod Marshall led Dayton (13-5, 5-2 Atlantic 10) with 16 points, Keith Waleskowski had 13 and Nate Green added 12. The Flyers also had a 44-22 rebounding advantage led by Sean Finn and Waleskowski with nine apiece.
The Flyers, who led 43-21 at halftime, led by as many as 29 points, 73-44, with 6:20 to play.
UMass (9-9, 3-4), which had its three-game winning streak snapped, made the score respectable in end the behind Anthony Anderson's 6-for-7 3-point shooting. Shannon Crooks led the Minutemen with 21 points, followed by Anderson with 20.
The Flyers opened with a 13-0 run and the Minutemen did not score for the first 6:16 of the game. Finn started the 17-0 run, which took 5:41, with back-to-back baskets and UMass was buried in a 36-11 hole. The Flyers shot 63.6 from the field in the first half.
UMass shot 21 percent in the first half and was battered on the boards, 25-8. Finn alone had as many rebounds as UMass in the first half.
