UMass Cross Country Races at New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of Massachusetts men's and women's cross country teams both placed third at the College Woods Course on the campus of the University of New Hampshire this afternoon.
Leading the way for the Minutewomen on the 5,000-meter course was senior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.), who finished ninth with a time of 19:47. Sophomore Molly Ketschek (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed 12th with a time of 20:09. Next for UMass was senior Megan McCormick (State College, Pa.) with a time of 20:26, which was good for 18th place. Freshman Alexis Anzelone (Westfield, N.J.) placed 25th, completing the course in a time of 20:44.
Providence won the women's meet with a team score of 15, followed by New Hampshire with 63 points, UMass with 90 points and Maine with 93 points.
Leading the way for the Minutemen on the 8,000-meter course was senior Michael Pieck (Guilderland, N.Y.), who finished ninth with a time of 25:36. Senior Salvatore Nastasi (Merrich, N.Y.) finished 12th with a time of 26:18. Next for UMass were senior Ryan Corbett (Highland, N.Y.), who placed 18th, and senior Kevin Curtin (Chelmsford, Mass.), who placed 19th. Also among the top 25 finishers were junior Dave Hantman (Cambridge, Mass.) and senior David Prasse (Walpole, Mass.), who placed 22nd and 25th respectively.
Providence won the men's meet with a team score of 25, followed by New Hampshire with 32 points, UMass with 80 points and Maine with 98 points.
The men's team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Franklin Park against Boston University, Vermont, Maine, Colgate, Yale and Cornell. The meet is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. The women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Franklin Park against Boston University, Vermont, Maine, and Central Connecticut. The meet starts at noon.
