HANOVER, N.H. - Heidi Anderson snapped a 3-3 tie with 8:46 remaining in the game to propel the University of New Hampshire to a 4-3 victory over the University of Massachusetts Friday afternoon at Dartmouth College's Scully-Fahey Field.

Anderson's initial shot from point-blank range was stopped by UMass sophomore goaltender Ashley Egland (Ilion, N.Y.), but Anderson poked the rebound into the cage.

Marcie Boyer scored the first of her two goals on a penalty corner at 28:11 to give UNH a 1-0 lead. Tami Street and Jennifer Stamp were credited with the assists.

UMass tied the game at 16:42 when junior Erika Whiston (Athol, Mass.) fired a shot a from the top of the circle past Wildcat goaltender Christine Buckley. Senior co-captain Kaitlyn Byron (Greenfield, Mass.) gave the Minutewomen a 2-1 lead when she gathered a deflected pass and lifted the ball over Buckley.

Boyer scored on another corner with 7:34 remaining in the first to tie the game at 2-2. UNH took the lead when Jennie Peyser scored early in the second half. UMass responded when senior Anke Bruemmer (Koeln, Germany) scored on a penalty corner. Freshman Ashley Gilbert (Turner, Maine) and Whiston assisted on the goal.

The Minutewomen return to action Monday, Sept. 3, when they travel to Boston to face New England rival Northeastern at 5:00 p.m. on the campus of Wentworth Institute of Technology.
