Celeste Frey Named Assistant Women's Tennis Coach

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's tennis head coach Judy Dixon recently announced the hiring of Celeste Frey as assistant coach.

Frey comes to Amherst from the University of Mississippi where she was a top 10 National singles and doubles player in 2000. She recently graduated from Ole Miss with a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science. Frey was a member of the Dean's Honor Roll each semester as well as being in the Rebel 3.0 club. She was also the recipient of the Student-Athlete Extra Effort Award and an M-Club member in addition to being named to the Academic All-American tennis team.

Prior to Mississippi, Frey attended Florida International University where she was ranked 72nd in the country and was team captain. She was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award there as well as serving on the Student-Athlete Advise Committee.

Frey, a native of Argentina, has worked as a tennis instructor at the Adelante Athletic Club in her home country as well as the Ole Miss Tennis Camp last summer. She also served as an instructor to the tennis team last season and provided management and support services to the Ole Miss varsity softball and soccer teams.
