Women's Tennis Shuts Out Fairfield, 7-0

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team won all nine of its matches en route to a 7-0 sweep over Fairfield, yesterday. The win gave the Minutewomen a 14-6 overall record.
In singles, junior Annie Hamilton (Plano, Texas), junior Helena Horak (Westlake Village, Calif.), and freshman Susan Hyams (Cincinnati, Ohio) never let their opponent pick up a win as they knocked them off 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Jafra Depontes (Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii), junior Lindsey Gillooly (Stoughton, Mass.), and freshman Francesca Mancini (Milan, Italy) all easily defeated their opponents 6-1 6-1, 6-1 6-1, and 6-0 6-2, respectively.
UMass also took all three doubles matches as the tandems of Mancini/Hamilton, Horak/Hyams, and Gillooly/Depontes all secured 8-1 victories.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Minutewomen who will be off until Tuesday, April 10 when they will begin a four-match homestand against A-10 foe Fordham. The match at the Upper Boyden Courts will begin at 3:00 p.m
