Gillooly and Hyams Earn A-10 Tennis Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Lindsey Gillooly (Stoughton, Mass.) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week, while freshman Susan Hyams (Cincinnati, Ohio) was named Rookie of the Week for their performances last week.

Gillooly went 3-1 last week at the No. 5 singles spot. She defeated opponents from Florida Atlantic, Broward, and St. Thomas, while dropping a close match with nationally ranked Lynn. Gillooly is 4-2 from the No. 5 spot and 4-5 overall this season.

Hyams went 3-1 as well, improving her record to5-1 at the No. 4 spot. She also defeated players from Florida Atlantic, Broward, and St. Thomas. Hyams has posted a 5-4 singles record thus far.

The Minutewomen return to action this weekend when they play three matches in Philadelphia, Pa. On Saturday, March 31, they will play Villanova and A-10 foe Duquesne. On Sunday, they will play at Temple. Both UMass and Temple were selected the pre-season favorites in the A-10 Coaches Poll.
