Minutewoman Kristin Cisowski Competes at 2001 NCAA Cross Country Championships

AMHERST, Mass. - Senior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.) placed 237th out of a field of 249 runners at the 2001 NCAA Cross Country Championshipsthis afternoon at the Furman University Golf Course, in Greenville, South Carolina. Cisowski ran the 6,000-meter course in a time of 23:58, placing her 237th among 249 runners. The race concludes her cross country career as a Minutewoman.
Cisowski placed 137th at 2000 NCAA Cross Country Championships held in Ames, Iowa, finishing the 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:16. She is only the second woman in UMass history to qualify for the NCAA Championships and she is the first woman to do so twice in a career.
As a freshman in 1998, Cisowski won the Atlantic 10 women's cross country title and was subsquently named A-10 Rookie of the Year. She placed 4th in the Atlantic 10 Championships in 1999 and was named to Atlantic 10 All-Academic team. An engineering major, Ciswoski has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester during her career at UMass.
