Women's Tennis Completes Second Day At Eastern Championships.

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team completed its second day at the Eastern Tennis Championships in West Point, N.Y. Two singles players and a doubles team all advanced into finals action to be played tomorrow.

At No. 2 singles, rookie Francesca Mancini (Milan, Italy) advanced into the finals by defeating George Washington's Nazil Gencsoy (6-3, 6-4), while sophomore Katie Stammen (North Attleboro, Mass.) defeated the No. 2 seed, George Washington's Susie Coggin (6-2, 6-0) to advance into the finals of No. 3 singles.

In No.1 singles consolation action, junior Annie Hamilton (Plano, Texas) defeated the No. 2 seed, Annie Weber (6-0, 6-0) to advance into the consolation finals. Freshman Caroline Larson (Arlington, Mass.) fell to Stony Brook's Olesya Ianovitch (6-2, 6-3) in No. 4 singles consolation action.

In the doubles competition, the No. 1 duo of junior Helena Horak (Westlake Village, Calif.) and freshman Susan Hyams (Cincinnatti, Ohio) fell to the No. 3 seed, Annie Collier and Melissa Sentelle (6-3, 6-2, while freshman Jafra Depontes (Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii) and junior Lindsey Gillooly (Stoughton, Mass.) advanced into the finals of No. 2 doubles by defeating the No. 3 seed, Melanie Bundoc and Ali Rohr (6-4, 6-1)

Tomorrow will mark the final day of the tournament.
