Minutewomen In Third At Atlantic 10 Swimming Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y. - After the first night of competition in the 2000 Atlantic 10 Tournament, the University of Massachusetts women's swim team stands in third place behind Va. Tech and St. Bonaventure.
The Minutewomen started the meet taking third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.33. The time was good for a new school record. The relay team was comprised of swimmers Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.), Lyndsay Crenshaw (Escondido, Calif.), Anne Dettloff (Barrington, Ill.) and Andrea Spencer (Wilmington, Del.). In the 500-yard freestyle, Dettloff finished eight with a 5:08.43. The 200-yard IM was swam Spencer in a school record time 2:07.30. She finished fourth in the heat. The 50-yard freestyle was swam by Spencer, Kazanjian, and Julie Dragon (Sturbridge, Mass.), getting tenth, twelfth, and sixteenth respectively.
In the diving events, freshman Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) , finished fifth, scoring a 352.30 in the three meter. In the 400-yard medley relay, the Minutewomen finish third with a time of 3:54.90 setting another school record. Elizabeth Risotto (Setauket, N.Y.), Sarah Newell (Dillsburg, Pa.), Kazanjian and Spencer swam the four legs.
The Atlantic 10 Championship continues of Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18 and 19.
