UMass Cross Country races at NCAA Northeast Regionals

BRONX, NY. -- The UMass women's cross country team placed ninth and the men's team took 18th place at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park on Nov. 11th.

Leading the way for the Minutewomen was junior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.), who took 16th place overall with a time of 21:11. Senior Melissa Henderson (Abington, Mass.) finished next, placing 44th at 21:58. The next three UMass finishers were senior Megan McCormick (State College, Pa.), freshman Molly Ketschek (Wilbraham, Mass.) and junior Katherine Blais (Andover, Mass.) as they placed 59th, 64th and 116th respectively.

Boston College (47) won the 33-team women's race and was followed by Yale (56) and Brown (87). The Minutewomen finished with a team score of 299.

For the Minutemen, senior Michael Pieck (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the way by finishing 44th overall with a time of 32:40. Junior Sal Nastasi (Merrich, N.Y.) followed at 100th with 33:42. Senior Kevin Somers (Monson, Mass.) was right behind at 102nd, logging a time of 33:45. Next for UMass were senior Brendan Sullivan (New City, N.Y.) and junior Ryan Corbett (Highland, N.Y.), who took 120th and 123rd respectively at 34:10 and 34:12.

Providence (27) won the 32-team men's race and was followed by Iona (75) and Dartmouth (104). The Minutemen finished with a team score of 489.

This race concludes the season for both the men's and women's cross country teams.
