Women's Tennis Sweeps Central Connecticut

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team swept today's match over the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State 9-0 at the Upper Boyden Courts.

Freshman Fransesca Mancini (Milan, Italy) remained unbeaten on the year as she won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, improving her overall record to 8-0. Sophomore Katie Stammen (North Attleboro, Mass.) recorded her first victory in dual match play when she won by default.

The doubles tandem Annie Hamilton (Plano, Texas) and Lindsey Gillooly (Stoughton, Mass.) evened their record on the season to 1-1 with an 8-0 shutout in their match.

The win today was the second sweep in a row for the Minutewomen. They now stand at 3-1 on the season and will travel to Hanover, New Hampshire for a clash with The Big Green of Dartmouth tomorrow.
