CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts fell to No. 2 Boston College, 9-5, Sunday night at Kelley Rink. Darcy King (Barrie, Ontario) scored two goals and assisted on two as the Minutemen fell to 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in Hockey East, while Boston College improved to 5-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Hockey East.

UMass took an early lead when Brad Nizwantowski (Peabody, Mass.) scored 2:32 into the first period with assists from King and Kris Wallis (Agassiz, British Columbia).

Boston College scored four goals in the first, with three coming on the power play. King scored his first of the season at 16:45 to cut the Eagles lead to 3-2. Boston College's Jeff Giulinao scored just a minute later to give the Eagles a 4-2 lead after the first.

Wallis opened the second period scoring with assists from Nizwantowski and Toni Soderholm (Helsinki, Finland) at 6:38. The second half of second period saw the two teams trade goals with King getting his second of the night with assists coming from Wallis and Mike Warner (Waltham, Mass.) each getting their first goals of the year for UMass. The second period ended with Boston College on top, 6-5.

Boston College scored three unanswered goals in the third period, one goal on the power play and one coming short handed. The Eagles totaled five power play goals on the night.

Wallis and Nizwantowski both finished the night with a goal and two assists for UMass.

The Minutemen return to action on Friday, Nov. 3, when they travel to Hockey East rival UMass-Lowell. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
