AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Kevin Quinlan ran for two touchdowns to lead Massachusetts over American International 21-0 on Saturday.
The win lifted UMass to 5-2. AIC, which had won five of its last six games, fell to 5-3.
It took Division I-AA Massachusetts nearly six minutes into the second half to score against Division II AIC.
Quinlan opened the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run, capping a 70-yard drive in six plays on the Minutemen's second possession of the second half.
Early in the fourth quarter, Quinlan scored on a 1-yard run, capping a 72-year, 11-play drive.
UMass scored its final touchdown after AIC gave up the ball on its own 12 when a fourth down pass went incomplete. Marcel Shipp rushed seven yards for the touchdown.
Quinlan ended with 120 yards rushing, and Shipp ran for 111 yards. UMass finished with 436 yards of total offense, compared to 106 yards for AIC.
Mike Novembre rushed for 66 yards to lead AIC.
