BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's
tennis team was defeated today by Boston University, the eighth
ranked team in the east region, 7-2 in action on the Boston
University campus, in Boston, Mass.
The Minutewomen would triumph at the top of the lineup and at the
bottom of the lineup, but could not win any points in between.
Freshman Helena Horak (Westlake Village, Calif.) won at No. 1
singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, improving her singles record to 9-9. Seniors
Jackie Braunstein (Cooper City, Fla.) and Gillian Kane
(Irvine, Calif.) would team up for an 8-6 victory at No. 3
doubles, in what would be their last intercollegiate tennis
matches.
The match concludes the Minutewomen's season. The team finishes
with a 8-7 spring record (15 9 overall), including a third place
finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
