TEAM SCORES: TOP THREE UMASS FINISHERS:
1. Providence 45 pts. 1. Kevin Somers 52nd 33:25.8
BRONX, N.Y. - The Minutemen cross country team finished
16th at this weekends NCAA Northeastern Regional Qualifiers on
Saturday. Providence led the way with 45 points, followed by
Dartmouth (59) and Iona (67). UMass finished with 409 points.
UMass was lead by junior Kevin Somers (Monson, Mass.) who
finished 52nd overall with a time of 33:25.8. Senior Matt Ely
(Andover, Mass.) was the second Minuteman to cross the finish
line (84th overall) with a time of 34:00.8. Freshmen Colin
Baughman (Sherrill, N.Y.) and Ryan Corbett (Highland,
N.Y.) placed 85th (34:01.4) and 98th (34:19.9) respectively.
Senior b rounded out the top five for the Minutemen, finishing 104th
(34:28.0).
The Minutemen finish the season with the meet. The team finished
the season with a 4-1 record and a fifth place finish at the Atlantic
10 Championship.
