Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to Columbia

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men?s swimming and diving team suffered their first dual meet defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 163-137 to Columbia at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool.
Juniors Chris Arsenault (Peabody, Mass.) and Billy Brown (Fullerton, Calif.) each won two events for the Minutemen (4-1). Arsenault won the 200y-free (1:45.25) and the 200y-back (1:54.55), while Brown captured the 100y-breast (58.19) and the 200y-breast (2:05.78). Justin Houck (Wyomissing, Pa.) took the 1000y-free in 9:57.99. Tommy Keane (Melrose, Mass.) won the 500y-free in 4:44.61. In diving, senior Ed Hefferon (Stratford, Conn.) won the one-meter with a score of 292.35, and took second in the three-meter with a score of 316.65.
The Minutemen will return to action on Dec. 3-4 at the Syracuse Invitational, hosted by Syracuse University, at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, N.Y.
