Women Cross Country Finishes Eighth AT Meet of Champions

BRONX, N.Y. ? The UMass women?s cross country team finished eighth in the annual Meet of Champions at Van Cortland Park in N.Y. Brown won the event with five runners placing in the top 20, finishing with 52 points. Boston University took second place in the meet with 67 points, placing four runners in the top 20. Virginia and Boston College tied for third with 88 points apiece.
Senior Nicole Way (Marstons Mills, Mass.) paced the UMass team with a 30th place finish in 18:41. Senior Sally Hirsch (Brookline, Mass.) and sophomore Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.) finished together in 45th and 46th, respectively for the Minutewomen. Senior Elizabeth Sheptyck (North Eastham, Mass.) was the fourth UMass runner to cross the finish line in 57th place in 19:10. Senior Sharon Tillotson (Wantagh, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for UMass in 76th place in 19:24.
UMass cross country is off next weekend and will return to action on Friday, Oct. 15 at the New England Championships in Boston.
