Women's Tennis To Compete At ECAC Tennis Championships

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women?s tennis team will compete at the ECAC Tennis Championships this weekend from Oct. 15-17 in Princeton, N.J. The Minutewomen?s participation marks the first time any men?s or women?s team from UMass has received an invitation to compete in this highly regarded tournament.

"I am very pleased for my team for having the opportunity to play in such a wonderful tournament." head coach Judy Dixon says. "It is a real step forward for this program."

The tournament will feature 16 of the top teams in the East, including all the Ivy schools, in addition to James Madison, Virginia, Boston College, Seton Hall, Temple, Richmond, Syracuse and Rutgers. It is a team-formatted tournament and will include both championship and consolation rounds.

The Minutewomen are 3-1 in the fall and are riding a three-match winning streak heading into this weekend. They are coming off big wins over Amherst College and UConn on Oct. 8 and 9, respectively.

Sophomore Annie Hamilton (Plano, Texas) is undefeated (4-0) at No. 3 singles in dual matches this season, while the tandem of Hamilton and senior Ola Gerasimova (Liatvia Ridge, Russia) are 4-0 at No. 1 doubles.
