Li Xi joined the UMass women's tennis program as assistant coach prior to the start of the 2015-16 season. The former University of Virginia standout played for the Cavaliers from 2010-14 and spent the year prior to joining UMass working for the Women's Tennis Association.

Originally from Kunming, China, Xi helped UVA reach its highest team ranking in program history during her career. As a junior, she ranked No. 44 in singles play and reach as high as No. 10 in doubles action. That same year, she was a finalist at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in doubles play and was also a finalist in the ITA Regional Championships for singles and doubles.

She made a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances including a round of 16 win in doubles play as a senior in 2014. That year, she posted a 21-11 record in doubles play with a No. 14 national ranking.

As a junior, Xi was 30-17 in doubles play and helped Virginia reach the NCAA Round of 16 for the third consecutive season.

After sitting out her freshman year, Xi was an ITA Atlantic Region Player to Watch at the beginning of her sophomore season in 2011-12. She was 24-14 in singles play and was 21-8 in doubles being ranked as high as No. 11 nationally.

Prior to college, she was the top player in the Yunnan Province and ranked in the top 20 in China at the Under-18 category.

In addition to her play on the court at Virginia, Xi was highly active within the athletic department in Charlottesville. She was a member of the UVA Honor Committee, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and a Student-Athlete Mentor. The psychology major as worked as a research assistant prior to graduation.

Before joining the Minutewomen, Xi spend the 2014-15 year with the Women's Tennis Association where she was an operations intern.
