Kirk Scimone enters his second season in Amherst after returning to UMass to join the men’s and women’s swimming and diving staff as the diving coach during the summer of 2020.
In his first season in 2020, Scimone coached Reece Donahue to the finals in the 1-Meter Dive at the Atlantic 10 Championships and to a pair of wins on both boards at the Boston University dual meet.
Scimone arrives in Amherst following four years as a coach with WFLA Diving out of Largo, Fla., where he coached four AAU National Championships and four Florida State High School Champions.
The UMass alumnus also coached GC Divers in Southlake, Texas from 2008-14 and helped guide the women’s team to a 2013 USA Diving Junior National Championship. Under Scimone, the GC Divers also claimed three USA Diving Spring Junior West Championships while the men’s team claimed the Speedo Junior National Championship in both 2009 and 2010.
The Brockton, Mass. native began his collegiate diving career at Western Kentucky and picked up a Sun Belt Conference Diver of the Week before returning to the commonwealth to join the Minutemen for the 2005-06 season.
