Kathryn Yates joined UMass Hockey in September 2020 as the Director of Analytics. She is currently pursuing a dual-master’s degree in Business Administration and Sport Management in the Isenberg School of Management.
Yates came to UMass after spending the previous five seasons at Boston University where she assisted the men's ice hockey program as Director of Analytics and Hockey Operations Coordinator. She led the generation and analysis of individual and team performance-based data. Yates also served Agganis Arena as Business and Operations Assistant from 2014-2018.
She spent the summer of 2021 working for the Boston Bruins, completing research and development projects for the Analytics and Sports Performance departments, and was the recipient of funding through the Women in Sports Tech Fellowship program.
Originally from Harrison, New York, Yates graduated magna cum laude from Brown in 2014 with departmental honors in biology (physiology/biotechnology concentration). She did her undergrad thesis on the biomechanics of a field hockey shot using motion-capture videography.
