News: Vogel Tabbed Maccabi USA Junior Boys' Team Assistant Coach

Matt Vogel, a two-time University of Massachusetts graduate and native of Brooklyn, New York, enters his second season in his new role as video operations director with the University of Massachusetts men's basketball program in 2016-17.

In this role, Vogel oversees all film management duties for the men's and women's basketball programs simultaneously. In addition, Vogel is responsible for the video editing operation, including the production of video highlights for coach and player review and maintenance of the film exchange between UMass and other NCAA teams. He previously served as operations coordinator following a summer 2014 promotion.

Known on-staff for his ability to balance a multitude of responsibilities, Vogel will maximize his multi-tasking capabilities over the next year as he recently accepted the opportunity to coach alongside Adam Ginsburg on the Maccabi USA Junior Boys' Basketball Team staff. The duo will assemble and guide a group of young men in anticipation of participation in the 20th Maccabiah Games, held in Israel in July, 2017.

Prior to his move to the operational aspect of collegiate athletics, Vogel served four seasons as video coordinator. Vogel has spent more than a decade with the Minutemen under head coaches Derek Kellogg and Travis Ford. For the last six years, he has played a pivotal role working with the coaching staff to create scouting reports and highlights to facilitate team preparation and practice. Vogel also oversees the student managers on a day-to-day basis and has been the Director of the Derek Kellogg Basketball School for the past three years.

"Matt has done an outstanding job for our program over the past eight years," Kellogg said. "Matt's organizational and multi-tasking abilities are, simply put, remarkable. His willingness to do everything it takes to get the job done is second-to-none. Matt bleeds Maroon and White and represents the University of Massachusetts and our basketball program admirably."

Vogel graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science in Sport Management and a minor in Sociology. In 2012, he earned a Master's degree in Higher Education.X
