Josh Washington enters his second season as the Sports Performance Coach on Matt McCallโs staff.ย Washington arrived in Amherst in 2020 following a stint at Auburn University.

"Josh stood out to us immediately throughout the interview process, and we're very excited to welcome him to our program," McCall said. "Josh is somebody who will bring a tremendous level of energy to our building every day, and he will be an integral part of our coaching staff. I am confident that he will assist our student-athletes in their preparation to compete at the highest levels, both on and off the court."

Washington spent the last two years at Auburn working as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant with the men's basketball program while working towards his Master of Science in exercise physiology. While with the Tigers, Washingtonย assisted with all aspects of training implementation with the men's basketball program including strength training, conditioning, rehabilitation, nutrition supplementation, pre-practice warm-up and more.ย

In his two seasons at Auburn, the Tigers reached the 2019 Final Four and were the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament with a 25-6 record in 2020 before the season was halted due to COVID-19.

Prior to his time at Auburn, Washington spent the 2017-18 season as an intern in strength and conditioning with the Sacramento Kings, where heย aided in program design and implementation of individualized training programs. Washington's other stops include Stanford, Marquette and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Washington received his Bachelor's in sport management from Marian University in 2012, where he was a four-year letterwinner with the basketball program and a team captain in 2011.
