Jacob Kurtz enters his first season as an assistant coach on Matt McCall's staff, and fifth season with the program. Kurtz spent his first two seasons as the Assistant Director of Operations/Assistant to the Head Coach before being promoted to the Director of Scouting/Video at the start of the 2019-20 season.Â
Prior to arriving at UMass, Kurtz spent two seasons on McCall’s staff at Chattanooga as the Mocs’ video coordinator. While at Chattanooga, Kurtz was responsible for the breakdown of team video throughout the season. He filled the role of assistant to the head coach during both of McCall’s seasons leading the Mocs.

Kurtz’s tenure in Chattanooga marked his second stop with McCall as Kurtz was a student-athlete at Florida during McCall’s time with the team. After Kurtz started as a team manager in 2010-11, he was elevated to walk-on and eventually moved into a part-time starting role as a senior. He was named to the 2015 SEC Community Service Team.
