His 101 career points ranked sixth all-time upon graduation ... 55 goals scored in 1973 set program's single-season record and still stands fourth all-time ... Led team in scoring with 62 points in 1973 ... Served as the UMass women's lacrosse program's founding head coach from 1976-78.

On-Field Accomplishments: USILA All-American (1977, '79) ... NEILA All-Region Team (1977-79) ... UMass Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2018 ... US Lacrosse Hall of Fame Class of 2017 ... Career totals included 140 points on 74 goals and 66 assists ... Had at least 25 points in each of his four years with the team, one of only 12 all-time men's lacrosse student-athletes to achieve such consistency ... Upon graduation, Smith stood sixth all-time in points, tied for sixth in assists and eighth in goals ... Helped the program reach three NCAA Tournaments; one each in 1976, 1977 and 1979 ... He and his son, Kyle (2010-13; 125 points), rank as only one of two father-and-son duos in the UMass 100-Point Club.
