PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Junior Ola Gerasimova (Greenfield, Mass.) advanced to the second round of the ITA Eastern Region Championships singles bracket to highlight UMass' appearance in the ITA Eastern Championship.

Gerasimova advances to the second round with a first round bye and defeated Jodie Hurley of Cornell 6-2, 6-3 in the second round. In the third round Gerasimova faced Janelle Williams and fell 7-6 (1), 6-0. In doubles Gerasimova teamed with freshman Helana Horak (Westlake Village, Calif.) and fell to Rebecca Dirksen and Allison Tarf of Dartmouth 8-4. This marked the second time that Gerasimova and Horak had lost to the team of Dirksen and Tarf. The first time was October 1 at Dartmouth.

The Minutewomen finish there fall season with a record of 8-2, including a eight game winning streak. Gerasimova finishes the fall with a 17-8 overall record (9-6 singles, 8-2 doubles).

The ITA Tournament marks the end of the fall season for the Minutewomen. The team will next be in action on February 5-7 at the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y.
