WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
            *Junior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.) finished 137th at the Cross Country NCAA            Championship last Monday in Ames, Iowa. Cisowski is the second woman in school history            to ever qualify for the NCAA national meet.
*Cisowski finished with a time of 22:16 on the 6,000 meter course. University of Colorado took the team and individual titles with senior Kara Grgas-Wheeler coming in first with a time of 20:30.
*With her performance, Cisowski was name Co-WHMP UMass Athlete of the Week along with senior football player, Marcel Shipp.
*Cisowski earned the spot in the NCAA Championship by finishing 16th at the Northeast Regional with a time of 21:11 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York. Cisowski earned the spot for finishing among the top four runners from non-qualifying teams.
TRACK AND FIELD
            *The men's and women's indoor track and field teams begin their season this this            Saturday, Dec. 2, when they travel to Boston University to compete against Maine, New            Hampshire, Yale and Boston University.
*Both the men's and women's teams are predicted to finish first in the Atlantic 10 by the conference coaches.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
            *The men's swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Friday, Dec. 1, and            Saturday, Dec. 2, when they host Syracuse at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. On Friday,            diving tentatively begins at 3:00 p.m., with swimming to start at 6:00 p.m., while on            Saturday diving starts at 10:00 a.m., with swimming to tentatively begin at 3:00            p.m.
* UMass is 3-2 on the season and has been led by senior Chris Arsenault (Peabody, Mass.) who set a school record in the 100 fly with a time of 49.02 versus Central Connecticut on Nov. 4 and claimed first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 fly events, as well as the 100 free on Nov. 11 versus Boston University. He was named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week on Nov. 16.
*The women's swimming and diving team return to the pool on Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2, when they host Syracuse at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. On Friday, diving tentatively begins at 3:00 p.m., with swimming to start at 6:00 p.m., while on Saturday diving starts at 10:00 a.m., with swimming to tentatively begin at 3:00 p.m.
*UMass is 5-0 on the season. Freshman Christen Dexter (Centerville, Mass.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for two consecutive weeks. Junior Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.) has an Atlantic 10 best time in the 50 (24.54) and the 100 free (53.58), while junior Becky Hunnewell (Sandwich, Mass.) has a conference best time in the 100 (59.72) and 200 back (2:07.35). Junior Anne Dettloff (Barrington, Ill.) has a conference best time in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.72.
MEN'S GYMNASTICS
            *Mens Gymnastics will open its 2000-2001 campaign with the 10th Annual UMass Open on            Saturday, December 2. Head Coach Roy Johnson and the Minutemen are coming off one of            the most successful seasons in school history as they posted a 9-1 dual meet record and            captured their second straight ECAC Championship.
*Returning to lead the UMass squad are seniors Andy Leis (Suffield, Conn.), Eric Bacon (Belchertown, Mass.), and J.J. Hershey (Ephrata, Pa.), as well as junior Matt Plumser (East Brunswick, N.J.) and sophomore Justin Hammar (Woodbury, Minn.).
*The meet, which will also feature Army, M.I.T., Southern Connecticut, Springfield, Temple, and Vermont, is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in Curry Hicks Cage.
