Kuzmeski Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

AMHERST, Mass. - Robert Kuzmeski has been named an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Massachusetts, it was announced today by UMass associate athletic director for sports medicine Jeff Smith. Kuzmeski will serve as the trainer for the Minuteman ice hockey program, in addition to supervising the seven graduate assistants on the UMass athletic training staff and overseeing the coverage of the men's and women's skiing teams.
Kuzmeski comes to UMass from the Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Mass., where he has served as an athletic trainer and teacher for the last seven years. He coordinated athletic injury prevention, management and care for a middle school athletic program of 250 students, in addition to teaching classes in the areas of earth science, human anatomy, physiology, athletic conditioning and first aid.
Prior to his time at Eaglebrook, Kuzmeski spent two years as an athletic trainer at Rehab West, in Ludlow, Mass. His collegiate training background includes one year as the head athletic trainer at Quinnipiac College, two years as the associate athletic trainer at the State University of New York at Oneonta, and two years as an athletic trainer at Springfield College. In addition, Kuzmeski has served as an instructor at the Springfield College Athletic Training Workshop and as a volunteer athletic trainer for the U.S. Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Program.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Kuzmeski received his bachelor's degree in health fitness from Springfield College in 1988. He went on to earn his master's degree in health science from Springfield in 1992.
