                    Rich Thompson of the Boston Herald had a preview of the UMass women's lacrosse                    team's NCAA first round match-up against Jacksonvile which is being hosted by                    Maryland. Thompson focuses on the high-powered defense of the Minutewomen which                    has been ranked No. 1 in the country for much of the season and is anchored by                    Andover, Mass., twin sisters Anne and Kate Farnham.

                    UMass women's lacrosse senior goalie Rachel Vallarelli continues to lead the                    nation in goals-against-average (4.28) and save percentage (.589) according to                    the April 6 NCAA stats report.                                            
                                                                
                                                                
                                                                
                                                        
                                    Moving up for UMass was defender Kate Farnham who now ranks 4th nationally                        in caused turnovers (2.55 per game) which also leads the Atlantic 10.                        Farnham also ranks 23rd in groundballs (2.64) which is 2nd in the A-10.                    
                                            Hannah Murphy ranks 18th in draw controls (4.36) and leads the A-10 as                        well.                    
                                            As a team, UMass slipped to No. 2 for scoring defense, but continues to                        lead the country in caused turnovers and save percentage. The Minutewomen                        also rank No. 2 in groundballs and are 9th in scoring margin.                    
                                        ILWomen.com announced its 2015 Mid-Season All-America picks with UMass defender                    Kate Farnham earning Honorable Mention accolades. The junior has had a banner                    year this Spring for the Minutewomen pacing the defense to the Nation's No. 2                    team ranking. Individually, Farnham's 28 caused turnovers ranks 4th nationally,                    while her 29 groundballs ranks 23rd.
