With the NFL Draft coming this weekend, Dan Malone of MassLive.com takes a look at where Jean Sifrin could likely be drafted. While no other Minutemen are likely to be drafted, Stanley Andre does have a strong chance of being picked up as a free agent. Matt Vautour of the Daily Hampshire Gazette has a story today on how freshman QB Ross Comis helped the Minutemen prepare for dual-threat Eastern Michigan QB Reginald Bell during the week. Comis along with Elgin Long and Shaquille Harris all split time running the scout team offense this week to help prepare the Minutemen for the speed of Bell.

It was a grand welcome party for tight end Jean Sifrin whose two touchdown performance in his first game at UMass sparked the Minutemen against Colorado. The Buffs proved too much in the end, however, overcoming an 11-point UMass lead in the third quarter to take a 41-38 win over the Minutemen at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. "As a team, we're still young. We're still recruiting. We still have young guys coming in and trying to make an impact on the team somewhat like (last year's freshmen) did. That experience of me, Trey Dudley-Giles, Khary Bailey-Smith, D'Metrius (Williams), all playing as true freshmen, that can only help us for this year. I mean, we're all coming back. "When I'm practicing, I look at that building," sophomore cornerback Randall Jette said, pointing towards the construction. "You know you're working hard for something. You know there's a bright future. You see the stadium under construction every day when you're out here working, so it's a little motivation every day."
ABC40 has a story on how UMass is utilizing the new Guardian Cap to help prevent concussions during football practice. The cap is a soft shell with padding and air pockets which fits over the top of helmets and absorbs and deflects the force of a blow better to prevent injury due to repeated impact.
