FOOTBALL LIFER: Bob Burke, a Holyoke native who retired in 2006 from his duties as American International College's director of athletics, just can't stay away from his favorite sport - football.
He's back in the game as an assistant coach at Port Charlotte High School in Florida. He also does some substitute teaching.
"I wouldn't want to be a head coach again, but I've been doing this for a couple of years and enjoying it," he said.
Burke played at UMass and coached at Cathedral and AIC before moving into his athletic director's role.
He now lives in Rotunda West, Fla., "with golf courses all around."
