Dick Baker Honored By Northeast-10 Conference

Springfield Republican sports writer Dick Baker, who many of you may know for his MassLive.com UMass Hockey Blog, was honored last weekend by the Northeast-10 Conference with the Dick Lipe Media Award. He was presented the award at halftime of Saturday's American International/New Haven football game.

The award, selected by a vote of the sports information directors, has been presented since 2002 "in honor of continued excellence in promoting the athletic and academic endeavors of the NE-10 student athletes and their institutions."

Dick is the second media member who covers UMass hockey to receive an award this year. At Hockey East Media Day in September, UMass Sports Network color analyst Brock Hines was presented the Joe Concannon Media Award.
