Women's Soccer Suffers 4-1 Setback At Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer suffered its first setback of the season, falling 4-1 at Brown on Thursday evening. The Bears (3-2-0) added a pair of tallies in the first and again in the second before the Minutewomen (3-1-0) broke up the shutout bid in the closing moments.

Brown opened the scoring in the 27^th minute. Corine Gregory collected a pass from Audrey Lam and broke free from a UMass defender to find Joy Okonye at the top of the six-yard box for the redirection.

The Bears then doubled their advantage before the intermission. With numbers forward, Ayla Sahin took a feed from Georgia Steinbach and Maja Cenanovic and sent a low shot into the far corner of the net at 36:16.

In the 61^st Minute, Kyra Treanor brought down a corner kick from Okonye and fired a strike home from the top of the 18 to push Brown's advantage to 3-0.
It became 4-0 with Sahin netting her second of the night, cleaning up a rebound from Taylor Green at 72:57.

Martina Sanz Bravo spoiled the shutout in the 89^th minute with a long range attempt that found its way over the head of goalkeeper Addison Etter for her first career tally in a UMass uniform.

Brown finished the evening with a 29-6 shot advantage and led in corner kicks, 11-3.

UMass will be back in action when the squad will play host to UMass Lowell at 1 p.m. on Rudd Field.
