Three Selected As UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – Three student-athletes earned UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union. Shakira Cadet of women's track and field, Owen Salanger of men's lacrosse and Michael Hrabal of hockey will all be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon next week.
The luncheon takes place on Wednesday, March 11, at noon in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons. Cost to attend is $17 (15.30 for UMass Alumni).
Shakira Cadet | Jumps | Fall River, Mass. | Junior
Shakira Cadet claimed gold in the women's long jump at the MAC Indoor Championships with a leap of 20'0.5". Cadet became the first MAC gold medalist in program history.
Michael Hrabal | Jr. | G | Prague, Czechia
Helped UMass take 5-of-6 points from #13/14 UConn, stopping 87 of 101 shots he faced and 6-of-7 in a seven-round shootout … Posted a 1.92 save percentage and a .956 GAA for the week … Two of the four goals he allowed came on the power play … Made 37 saves in Friday's 5-1 win on the road in Storrs and was named the game's No. 1 star … On Saturday, had a career-high 50 saves in a 3-3 tie against the Huskies and made six saves in a seven round shootout to help UMass secure the extra point in the standings.

Backstopped UMass to wins over RV Brown on the road and No. 20 UAlbany at home, posting a .702 save percentage with 40 saves across two games and a 8.5 goals-against average ... Grabbed five ground balls and had a caused turnover ... In Wednesday's 11-8 win at Brown, made a career high 23 saves and posted a .742 save percentage, the highest saves total by a UMass netminder in 25+ years ... Followed up on Saturday with a 17 save effort with three ground balls and a caused turnover in a convincing 15-9 win over UAlbany.
