Minutewomen Fall to Ohio, 1-0

ATHENS, Ohio -- No. 11 Massachusetts (8-1, 1-1 MAC) fell for the first time this season, dropping a 1-0 content to Ohio (2-7) on Friday at Pruitt Field. The Minutewomen held a 12-5 advantage in total shots, but could not find the net on the afternoon. 
    
Freshman Emily Barrett led the Minutewomen with five shots including two on goal in the matchup. Defenders Lina Kroeger and Elena Clococeanu each recorded two shots on the day, all coming on penalty corners. 
 
Senior Myrte van Herwijnen made two saves on the afternoon, allowing one goal or less in seven of her nine games this season.  
 
The Bobcats were led by Anouk Plaehn who scored the lone goal of the game.  
   
Breaking Down The Action 
  • The Minutewomen recorded two shots and a penalty corner in the first quarter but could not get on the board through the first 15 minutes of play. 
  • Massachusetts drew five penalty corners in under two minutes but could not open the scoring with 7:54 remaining in the first half. 
  • The Minutewomen held a 2-0 shot advantage in the third quarter, however the square remained 0-0 heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
