#2 Massachusetts Clinches Spot In The A-10 Semifinals With 4-1 Triumph Over No. 7 Davidson

The Minutewomen move on to face No. 3 Richmond on Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m.
ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 2-seeded University of Massachusetts tennis team downed No. 7 Davidson, 4-1, in the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals on Friday morning at the USTA National Campus.
The victory moved UMass to 12-6 overall on the season, while Davidson finished the year with a 13-9 record.
Massachusetts locked down the doubles point with wins at courts No. 2 and No. 1. Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye got off to a quick start downing Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford of Davidson, 6-1 at No. 2, but the Wildcats' Ellie Hammon and Olivia Hooper tied up doubles with a 6-4 win over Martina Pavissich and Trinity Calinescu at court No. 3.
Climbing back from a 3-1 deficit, Mariana Campino and Belle Jonglertrakul worked their way to a 6-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles over Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges of Davidson to secure the point.
Davidson knotted up the match early in singles action as Hammond of the Wildcats defeated Pavissich, 6-1, 6-1, at court No. 5. Jonglertrakul gave the Minutewomen the 2-1 advantage with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Porges of Davidson at No. 3 singles. Tye made it a 3-1 match after earning a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Davidson's Langford at court No. 4, before Campino clinched the match point for the Minutewomen, downing Patel of the Wildcats, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
The remaining matches on courts No. 2 and No. 6 went unfinished.
