Massachusetts Tennis Tops George Washington, 4-1

The Minutewomen pick up their first Atlantic 10 win of the season.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Massachusetts tennis topped Atlantic 10 rival George Washington, 4-1, on Wednesday morning at the SETLC, to win its first A-10 match of the year.
The Revolutionaries took the doubles point with wins at courts No. 3 and No. 2. Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene of George Washington defeated Owethu Makhanya and Martina Pavissich at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, before George Washington's Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Amelia Tye and Ella Faessler.
Mariana Campino and Belle Jonglertrakul led, 5-4, at No. 1 over Vaida Matuseviciute and Karen Verduzco of GW, before the match went unfinished.
The Minutewomen bounced back in singles competition, picking up wins at No. 1, No. 5, No. 3 and No. 4. Campino downed Sasinka of the Revolutionaries, 6-1, 6-2, at court No. 1, before Pavissich came away with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 5 singles over George Washington's Skeene. Jonglertrakul won at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Revolutionaries' Lee, and Tye clinched the match point for UMass with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Verduzco of George Washington at court No. 4.
Massachusetts heads to Richmond, Virginia, on Saturday, March 22, to take on Richmond, at 11 a.m.
