AMHERST, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts football concludes the regular season with Tuesday MACtion against Bowling Green on November 25, at 4:30 p.m. on ESPNU at McGuirk Alumni Stadium.
SERIES HISTORY
- Massachusetts and Bowling Green have met four times previously, with the Falcons winning all four of those matchups.
- The teams met as MAC foes each season from 2012-2015.
- Bowling Green earned a 24-0 win in the first meeting at Gillette Stadium (2012), followed by a 28-7 home win (2013).
- The Falcons then won 47-42 in the only previous matchup at McGuirk Alumni Stadium (2014) and posted a 62-38 home win in 2015.
- That 2014 matchup was UMass' return to McGuirk Alumni Stadium and saw Blake Frohnapfel throw for a school-record 589 yards in a game that featured six lead changes and a combined 1,306 yards of total offense.
- Frohnapfel also had five touchdown passes to tie the UMass mark.
- Bowling Green was led by James Knapke who threw for 443 yards and three touchdowns.
- In that most recent meeting in 2015, Frohnapfel threw for 409 yards with three touchdowns, and Tajae Sharpe recorded 159 receiving yards on 13 receptions and added a touchdown for UMass.
- Senior punter Keegan Andrews was named the Week One Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week, as announced by the Augusta Sports Council and Ray Guy Award organization (Sept. 3).
- Andrews enters the final game with 3,031 yards, while George Georgopoulos holds the record with 3,116 (2019).
- Andrews is also closing in on the single-season punting yards record at UMass.
- The single-season mark is currently held by Brett Arnold (45.22 in 2008), while the career mark is held by Logan Laurent (42.18 from 2013-17)
- That average would top both the single season (min. 25 punts) and career (min. 50 punts) marks in the UMass records book.
- On the season, Andrews leads the MAC with a 46.6 yards per punt average.
- Andrews has now been named to the Ray Guy Ray's 8 weekly honoree list four times this season (Sept. 1, Sept. 8, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27).
- Andrews had a 66-yard punt and only one was returned on the day.
- Three of the Werribee, Australia native's four punts were downed inside the 20-yard line.
- Against Temple (Aug. 30), Andrews had four punts for 228 yards, while recording a net average of 57.0 yards.
QUICK OUTS
- Marques White is averaging 0.45 sacks per game to rank eighth in the MAC.
- The Minutemen rank fourth in the MAC and 41st overall in fewest penalty yards per game (44.55).
- Martin (a pick six) and DD Snyder II each had an interception against Bryant, marking the first two interception game by the Minutemen since Oct. 28, 2023, when UMass downed Army 21-14 (Juan Lua and Jeremiah McGill had the interceptions on that day).
- Derrieon Craig, who missed the Central Michigan game with an injury, is averaging 7.8 tackles per game to rank 11th in the MAC (63rd nationally).
- Tyler Martin has moved into the top-10 in the MAC in tackles per game, as he is up to 8.5 to rank fifth in the MAC (36th nationally).
- Gibson's 53.1 receiving yards per game ranks seventh in the MAC, while his 5.89 catches per game ranks second in the MAC (17th nationally).
- Despite battling injuries, Jacquon Gibson's 478 receiving yards ranks 11th in the MAC (missed two full games and portions of two others).
- Keegan Andrews' 46.60 yards per punt ranks first in the MAC and 11th nationally.
- White's three tackles for loss at Central Michigan on Oct. 25 were the most by a Minuteman since Louce Julien had three TFLs against Wagner on Oct. 26, 2024.
- A McNeese State and Dartmouth transfer, White also has 11 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, a pass breakup and four quarterback hurries this season.
