Kroeger Claims MAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
October 22, 2025 | Field Hockey
AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts defender Lina Kroeger received MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. The honor marks the first career weekly conference honor for Kroeger.
Kroeger was a key piece for a Massachusetts defense which allowed just one goal in a pair of MAC victories over James Madison and App State. The freshman started at center back in both wins, helping the Minutewomen secure their seventh shutout this season, good for first in the conference and second nationally. Kroeger also made an impact in the offensive penalty corner unity, scoring her fourth goal of the season and recording 11 shots.
The Minutewomen return home to host MAC opponent Bellarmine on Friday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and can be followed live on umassathletics.com or UMassFH on Twitter.Â
