January 13, 2025 | Hockey

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts sophomore goaltender Michael Hrabal has been tapped as the Army ROTC Hockey East Defender of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It marks Hrabal's second weekly honor of the year and the fourth time a member of the Minutemen has been recognized.

Hrabal posted a 1.02 goals against average and a .975 save percentage over 117:05 minutes in net in a 1-1 weekend against Northeastern, making 77 saves and posting his second shutout of the season. In his first game back from earning Bronze at the World Junior Championship, the Prague, Czechia native stopped all 41 shots he faced in a 5-0 win at Northeastern. Hrabal then turned aside 36 of the 38 shots he faced on Saturday against the Huskies.

The Minutemen will be back in action this Friday, January 17, when the squad travels to North Andover, Massachusetts, to face Merrimack.
