Kenney And Recinos Tabbed UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's cross country senior Will Kenney and women's soccer senior Bella Recinos have been selected as the UMassFive Student-Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. The pair will be honored at the first UMass Sports Luncheon of the 2024-25 academic year this Wednesday, September 4, at 1 p.m. in the Berkshire Room at the Berkshire Dining Commons.
Speakers at this week's luncheon will be football head coach Don Brown and women's soccer head coach Jason Dowiak. Cost to attend is $16.25 ($14.63 for UMass Alumni).
Kenney Led the field for a second straight year at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational, completing the 6K course in 18:17.73 as the individual winner. The Minutemen took first in the team scoring with 17 points, while Central Connecticut followed (53), Boston University was third (75) and Northeastern placed fourth (96).
Recinos and the Minutewomen went 1-0-1 on the week after drawing Harvard, 0-0, and defeating Boston College, 2-1. Recinos accumulated 172 minutes of playing time, while registering a goal for one point. The senior took six shots total with two on target. Recinos' goal came at Boston College in the 48th minute. Against Harvard, she registered a team-high four shots with one on goal.
