McKayle and Burbage Earn UMass Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's basketball freshman Yahmani McKayle and women's swimming sophomore Lindsay Burbage have been named UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. The duo will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday, November 13, at 12 p.m. at the Berkshire Dining Common.

Guest speakers at this week's luncheon will be women's basketball head coach Mike Leflar and football head coach Don Brown.
 
Freshman point guard Yahmani McKayle shined in her second home game of her young collegiate career, leading the Massachusetts offense with a career-high 21 points, seven assists, and four steals. The Queens, N.Y. native is averaging 12.0 points per game in her first three games of her collegiate basketball career.
 
At Boston University on Saturday afternoon, Lindsay Burbage remained undefeated in the 100 breaststroke, picking up her fourth gold medal of the year in the event. She swam a time of 1:54.96. The sophomore claimed her second gold medal of the day, swimming a time of 2:25.59 in the 200 breaststroke. During the relay events, Burbage helped the 200-medley relay team to a first-place finish, as the team combined for a time of 1:45.13. She aided the 400 freestyle relay team to a silver medal with a time of 3:35.58.
