Minutewomen Fall 2-1 To No. 13 Harvard On Friday Afternoon

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Minutewomen (2-1, 0-0) fell 2-1 to No. 13 Harvard (1-0, 0-0) on Friday at Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex in Amherst, Mass. In a game dominated by defense and excellent play in the midfield, UMass was able to get on the board in the third period but fell to a Harvard team that owned the shot advantage throughout the game.

The Minutement played hard in front of a capacity Gladchuk crowd as Myrte van Herwijnen recorded four assists and Jess Beech tallied her second goal of the season.

"We are disappointed to lose off of a short corner goal, but lessons will be learned," said assistant coach Holly Turbill. "This was a very close competitive game which is exactly what we need to take our game to the next level."
