Eight future Minutewomen signed National Letters of Intent
AMHERST, Mass. – The Massachusetts rowing team has announced eight future Minutewomen who have signed National Letters of Intent to comprise the Class of 2027.
Sonya Mazrimas
- Hometown: Davis, CA
- Why UMass: I chose UMass because of the wonderful community of rowers and coaches. From the first phone call, I felt a connection with the coaches and recognized what a positive and hard-working community this was. I am so excited and can't wait to be a part of this team!
Sloane Yurcisin
- Hometown: Suffern, NY
- Why UMass: I'm so excited to attend UMass next fall. For its beautiful New England campus, its excellent academic reputation, and of course to row on the majestic Connecticut river.
Sarah Happs
- Hometown: Edinburgh, Scotland
- Why UMass: I chose UMass because from my first call with the coaches, I knew it was somewhere I could see myself. I felt so welcomed by every member of the team on my visit!! I am so excited to start my journey in such a positive environment!
Sara LaVigna
- Hometown: Absecon, NJ
- Why UMass: I chose UMass because it felt like home. Immediately, the coaches were like family by wanting what was best for me throughout the recruiting process. After I visited the campus and met with the team, I knew in my heart UMass was the place for me.
Zsófia Angyal
- Hometown: Kunsziget, Hungary
- Why Umass: I chose UMass because the crew's enthusiasm and willpower to improve are unmatched. I knew from the beginning, that I wanted to be part of this incredible team, where we can help each other and become the best version of ourselves.
Phoebe Gallagher
- Hometown: Brisbane, Australia
- Why UMass: I chose Umass because of the welcoming and comforting environment that the coaches and athletes created. It was a positive, enthusiastic and encouraging atmosphere where I could focus on my sporting and academic success and make lifelong friendships. After my official visit and meeting the coaches and rowers face to face, UMass definitely felt like the right decision!
Elle Decatur
- Hometown: Ithaca, NY
- Why Umass: I chose UMass because it's clear that the coaching staff genuinely cares for their athletes and they've created an especially welcoming culture. The team's ability to have fun together and work hard drew me right in. I loved the competitive drive I sensed in the boathouse. There are also many academic options at the University that I'm excited to explore, and of course number one dining in the nation! Go Minutewomen!

- Why UMass: I decided to join?UMass because Coach Eric and his team have been extremely positive and welcoming during my recruiting process. I feel as though UMass is somewhere where I will be fully supported in reaching my athletic and academic goals. UMass has such a positive and kind culture which I am super excited to be a part of as I have such a big move ahead of me. It is hard working as well as a super lively team and I am very excited to join the UMass rowing family in 2023.
