AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's basketball team hosts Davidson tomorrow for a nationally televised matchup as part of Dr. J Day. The Minutemen and the Wildcats tip-off from the Mullins Center at 12:30 p.m. on USA.

Dr. J Day
UMass will celebrate legendary alumnus Julius "Dr. J" Erving on Saturday as part of Dr. J Day. The first 500 fans will receive a Dr. J replica jersey courtesy of Coca-Cola. The Minutemen will also bring back their cursive U uniforms for the second time this season.

Bench Boost
The Minutemen rank ninth in the country and lead the Atlantic 10 in bench points per game at 31.2. UMass has outscored its opponent's bench in 17 games and has been outscored in just two contests. Dyondre Dominguez leads the bench scoring attack with 9.2 points per contest to rank fourth overall on the team.

Crashing The Boards
UMass ranks 11th nationally and leads the league in offensive rebounds per game at 13.4 and ranks 25th in the country in rebounds per game at 38.9. Matt Cross leads the team in rebounds per contest at 6.8, including 2.7 offensive rebounds per night to rank among the top-100 nationally in the category.

Series vs. Davidson
The Minutemen trail the all-time series against Davidson with a record of 5-11 dating back to the first matchup during the 1982-83 season. UMass last defeated Davidson on Feb. 9, 2019 in the Mullins Center by a score of 54-51 after Keon Clergeot hit the game-winning 3-pointer with five seconds remaining.

Saturday's In The Mullins Center
UMass is 2-0 in Saturday games on its home floor this season. The Minutemen picked up a 75-65 win over Rhode Island in its first home Saturday game back on Jan. 14 behind 22 points and seven rebounds from Matt Cross. UMass also recorded an 87-79 win over Duquesne with RJ Luis scoring 31 points while Dyondre Dominguez and Keon Thompson added 13 and 11, respectively.

A-10 Rookie Of The Week x2
RJ Luis earned his second Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors on Monday after averaging 27.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in two wins last week for the Minutemen. Luis began the week with a then career-high 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists in a win over Richmond. On Saturday, Luis recorded a new career-high with 31 points and shot 93-percent from the free throw line.

Dre's Double-Double
Dyondre Dominguez recorded his first career double-double against Duquesne as he finished with 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. The game marked the first double-digit rebound game for Dominguez while he has reached double figures in scoring in 12 games and in five of the last seven. Dominguez followed his double-double with another double-digit rebound game at George Mason, tying his career-high with 11 boards.

30 Piece
RJ Luis became the first Minuteman with a 30-point game since Dec. of 2020 as he finished with 31 in the win over Duquesne on Saturday. The performance marked the 99th 30-plus scoring game for a UMass player while the 31 points tied for 64th-most in a game. Luis also went 17-of-18 from the line to mark the third-most made free throws in a game by a Minuteman.

Looking Ahead
The Minutemen return to the road following Saturday's matchup with two consecutive games away from home beginning with a Wednesday night matchup at Fordham. UMass concludes its stretch of three of four on the road with La Salle on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. in Philadelphia.
