AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's basketball team hosts Dayton on Wednesday evening in the Mullins Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off in a nationally televised blackout game. The first 3,000 fans will receive a UMass Basketball blackout t-shirt.

Nationally Televised Matchup
The Minutemen play their second consecutive nationally televised matchup on Wednesday against Dayton on CBS Sports Network. UMass played this weekend at Rhode Island on ESPNU and close out the regular season at home in the Mullins Center on March 4 against St. Bonaventure on USA.

Series With Dayton
Wednesday's matchup with the Flyers marks the 33rd all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to the first meeting during the 1995-96 season. Dayton holds a 14-18 all-time series lead with the last UMass win coming by way of a 62-60 win on the road on Jan. 6, 2018.

Big Rhode Win
UMass' 69-45 win at Rhode Island on Saturday marked the largest true Atlantic 10 road win for the Minutemen since the 1996 season. The Minutemen have two wins on the road of 24 points or more over A-10 opponents during the 27 year span, besting Rhode Island by 32 points at the Providence Civic Center in 2001 to go along with a 24-point win over Fordham at Madison Square Garden in 1996. The last true road win of 24 or more came by way or a 59-35 win at Temple on Feb. 1, 1996.

Defensive Dominance
The Minutemen gave up a season-low 45 points in Saturday's win at Rhode Island and held the Rams to just 19 points in the second half. The half marked the first time since Feb. 26, 2019 against VCU that the Minutemen have held an opponent to under 20 points in a half. The game also marked the first time since the Feb. 19, 2011 game against URI that UMass has held an opponent to under 30-percent from the field.

Freshman 40
Three true freshmen combined for 40 of UMass' 69 points and each reached double figures in Saturday's win at Rhode Island. Keon Thompson set a new career-high with 15 points on 6-of-11 (.600) from the field while RJ Luis added 14 on 7-of-11 (.636). Tafara Gapare added 11 points and went 2-of-4 from deep.

Bench Boost
The Minutemen lead the conference and rank 12th in the nation in bench points at 29.0 per game. UMass has outscored its opponent's bench in 19 games and has been outscored in just five games.

Crashing The Boards
UMass ranks 19th nationally and leads the Atlantic 10 in offensive rebound per game at 12.6. The Minutemen also are inside the top-35 in the country in rebounds per game at 38.0 to rank 33rd.

Looking Ahead
The Minutemen have just three regular season games remaining and play their final road contest of the season a week from Wednesday on March 1 at Duquesne. UMass hosts St. Bonaventure for a nationally televised matchup in the regular season finale on Saturday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m.

Atlantic 10 Championship
Atlantic 10 Championship play begins for the league on Tuesday, March 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The new conference tournament format begins with three games on the opening Tuesday with an off day scheduled for Friday following the quarterfinals matchups.
